Biospherical Instruments offers multiple lines of single-channel radiometers designed for a vast array of scientific goals and program budgets. Different collector geometries, data outputs, connector options, and performance metrics ensure there is an option for almost any aquatic or terrestrial measurement scenario.
MICRO Class Sensors
The MPE-PAR (MICRO Class, Profiling (in-water), E (cosine irradiance) PAR sensor) is a state-of-the-art sensor that is sensitive over the Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) spectral range (400-700 nm). The MPE-PAR has been optimized for OEM integration into autonomous platforms such as gliders and Argo profiling floats and features low mass and low power consumption. It uses the same microradiometer technology as BSI’s high-end multi-channel radiometers and combines their impressive dynamic range of 10 orders of magnitude and excellent signal-to-noise ratio with the proven performance and ruggedness of BSI’s line of Q-Series PAR sensors.
Other MICRO class sensor options include the MPS-PAR (MICRO Class, Profiling (in-water), S (scalar irradiance) PAR sensor), and the MLS-PAR (MICRO Class, Laboratory (in-water or in air), S (scalar irradiance) PAR sensor).
AMOUR Sensors
BSI’s Advanced Multi-purpose USB Radiometer (AMOUR) is a state-of-the-art device in our series of laboratory sensors and uses the same microradiometer technology that is at the heart of BSI’s high-end multi-channel radiometers. The AMOUR sensor is available with either a 1.9 cm or 1.27 cm diameter collector for measuring scalar irradiance. It is also available with a "cosine" irradiance collector or radiance input optics, and can be ordered with PAR filter or monochromatic filters with wavelengths in the visible range. This sensor has a best-in-class dynamic range of 10 decades and is equipped with a USB connector, which plugs directly into a PC.
Q-Series PAR Sensors
Q-series sensors were designed for use in the laboratory; deployment with profilers, CTDs, gliders, floats, and meteorological stations; use in aquaculture and biofuel plants; and for many other marine or terrestrial applications. The instruments are available in a large number of configurations with respect to directional response, depth rating, signal output, packaging, cabling, and accessories.
