BioCLEAR
Controlled Long Exposure AntiFouling Regulator
Keep CLEAR, Biofouling begins within hours of deployment. Even a thin biofilm can shift spectral data, attenuate signal, and ruin long-term deployments.
BioCLEAR is BSI's newest addition to its product line. The system was developed under a NOAA funded project to fight biofouling that ruined high quality optical data. The successful project led the way for an integrated solution into BSI's product line to preserve important data without toxic coatings, risky mechanical wipers or added labor costs of diving maintenance teams.
BioCLEAR systems are also available in retro-fit kits to protect most cylindrical instruments. The system is built to be modular and easily adapted to different diameters. Assembled using integrated MicroCLEAR modules, customers can choose 1 to 6 LEDs to provide a wide range of coverage.
BioCLEAR mounts easily to cylindrical housings to keep optical sensors, camerias and windows clear
Mix and match up to 6 LEDs with a resizable collar to provide coverage for most commonly sized instruments.
BioCLEAR can be integrated into our single channel MPS
Single Channel Irradiance
18-Channel Radiance
19-Channel Irradiance
Continuous, Clear, Maintenance-Free Deployment
The proof after a one-year continuous deployment without manual cleaning or maintenance:
BioCLEAR Protected Areas (Green Boxes)
Complete Optical Clarity: The sensor windows and apertures protected by the BioCLEAR UV-C system remain entirely free of macro-fouling.
Pristine Surfaces: The clear and Teflon surfaces show no signs of biofilm accumulation, algae, or barnacle attachment.
Data Integrity: From an instrumentation perspective, these sensors are capable of delivering accurate, unattenuated optical data despite a year of submersion.
