1. Disconnect the GUV cable from the deckbox.
2. Turn on the TEMPERATURE CONTROLLER power switch on the front panel. The Fuji Controller will display LLLL or UUUU. This is an error code, which indicates that the Fuji controller does not see the thermocouple feedback from the GUV because it is not connected.
Programming basics:
3. Set the P-dp setting to 1 (this is in the secondary menu). This is the decimal
placement for all of the settings and it needs to be set first to store the other values correctly.
4. Press the PV/SV key. The SV LED should now be lit. Set this value to 40.0 by using
the ^ key to select the digit. Then use the same ^ key to increment and the ∨ key to
decrement the digit.
5. Set the rest of the parameters according to the chart below:
Primary | Menu | Secondary | Menu |
Parameter | Setting | Parameter | Setting |
P | 4 | P-n1 | 0 |
C | 125 | P-n2 | 1 |
d | 25 | P-dF | 1 |
7C | 60 | P-SL | 0.0 |
HYS | 0.3 | P-SU | 60 |
A7 | 0 | P-dP | 1 |
bAL | 0 | PUOF | 0 |
aR | 2 | SUOF | 0 |
LoC | 0 | P-F | C |
FUZY | oFF | ||
dSP1 | 49 | ||
dSP2 | 253 | ||
dSP3 | 248 | ||
dSP4 | 255 | ||
dSP5 | 131 | ||
dSP6 | 139 | ||
dSP7 | 125 | ||
6. After all the above values have been programmed into the Fuji, turn the unit off,
connect the GUV, and turn the Fuji back on. The Fuji controller’s PV LED should be lit.
This indicates that it is set to display the temperature of the sensor inside the GUV. The display
should show a reasonable temperature. The heater indicator LED should come on within
60 seconds and the GUV temperature should rise to 40°C, and then stabilize (this usually
takes 30–60 minutes).
7. Once the instrument has temperature stabilized, the instrument should be run with
software and the internal diode array should be noted. The internal diode array
temperature is the one we trust as accurate, and the one we wish to control. The
temperature measured by the Fuji is affected by cable length, etc. Modify the
temperature displayed by the Fuji to match that of the internal diode array temperature.
This is done through the PUOF parameter in the Secondary Menu of the Fuji. Subtract
the diode array temperature from the Fuji temperature. Enter this value as PUOF.
8. Now, the Fuji should be autotuned. Set the A7 value in the Primary Menu in the Fuji to
1. A blinking green LED indicates that the autotune process is taking place (usually 30–
60 minutes). Do not turn off the Fuji until the LED stops blinking or the unit will have to
be autotuned again.
